Theme & Topics
The workshop theme for this year is “Workshop on Active Control of MHD Modes in Toroidal Devices.” This theme is a throwback to one of the earliest workshops and is meant to be broadly encompassing to encourage a true "workshop spirit" in which all ideas are welcome for discussion. To further encourage this feeling, all talks will be given an equal time allotment with as much time as reasonably possible saved for discussion. It has been 2 years since our last stability control workshop and it is important to discuss all cutting edge progress being made in prediction, avoidance and control of MHD instabilities.
November 6-7, 2021
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA.
The 25th Workshop on MHD Stability Control will be a hybrid meeting including both remote and in-person participation. The physical meeting will be held in the David L. Lawrence Convention Center. This is the same location the APS DPP Annual meeting will be held in the following week and the same travel / lodging is recommended (details here). Remote participation will be available through zoom, with details provided to registered participants the week prior to the meeting.
The APS has overcome the many challenges associated with COVID-19 to make this meeting possible, and we will uphold vaccination and masking protocols consistent with those of the larger meeting. Detailed guidance, including vaccination and mask requirements, is available on the APS DPP website here. In-person participants should bring proof of vaccination. APS testing stations may not be available at the time of the workshop.
The deadline for registration is October 23rd, 2021.
Registration for the workshop is a two step process. Please complete the following steps in order:
- Registration of Participation through this form
- Registration payment through the APS DPP registration site
Payments are made directly to our APS hosts and registration is a flat $65 for all participants. After you have selected your APS DPP meeting registration options, at the step where you can choose to register for optional events, click on "Workshop on MHD Stability Control" and proceed to payment.
If you have already registered for the APS DPP meeting, please email email@example.com to make arrangements for a separate registration payment process for this event.
The workshop will not be recorded. However, with author approval, presentations will be posted to a password protected archive after the workshop (link in side menu bar).
