Welcome to the 2017 US-EU-JPN RF Heating Technology Workshop and the 2017 US-JPN Workshop on RF Heating Physics! For those who were not able to attend the 2016 workshops in Leinsweiler and Toyama, they were very informative and fruitful meetings, with several new avenues proposed for future collaboration. We would like to build on those successes by inviting all to this year's workshops, which will be co-located in Santa Monica, CA, the week of September 5 through September 8, 2017.
Both workshops will end in the early afternoon on their final days to allow those who will be returning that day to make their flights. Since the meeting dates will overlap this year, we look forward to planning several joint events between the two groups.
Santa Monica is 9 miles (15 km) from the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). Santa Monica is somewhat isolated from the rest of the LA coastal region, and has therefore become an area that offers its own unique flavor. There are plenty of interesting activities in Santa Monica, whether it’s shopping at its many boutique stores, people-watching along the Third Street Promenade, relaxing at the beach, or enjoying the carnival-like atmosphere of the world famous Santa Monica Pier.
For those planning on attending the 2017 Infrared, Millimeter Wave, and Terahertz Conference in Cancun, Mexico, direct flights (approximately 5 hours) are available between Cancun International Airport and LAX.
We look forward to seeing everyone in Santa Monica this September for what is sure to be an interesting event.
