Remote Participation to DOE Theory Seminar on 07/13/04
- Please note that the conferencing links should start 45 minutes earlier than the actual Seminar starts. So, remote participants can test their systems before the meeting. - Please download a copy of the slides so that you can view or project them locally if the live broadcast does not work for any reason. They will be posted the evening before the meeting, or before. The web site is: DOE Seminar Series Schedule
ACCESS INFORMATION - SLIDES AS THEY ARE PRESENTED
- Please note that this seminar will be presented with Virtual Network Ccomputer (VNC) software, rather than with Meeting Place. To view the material as it is presented, you must first install the appropriate VNC client software on your computer. There are multiple options for each platform; here are some:
- For Mac OS X, "Chicken of the VNC," available here.
- For Windows, "Windows VNC client/server," available here
- For Linux, Red Hat (at least) comes with one built in; it may be called vncviewer.
- For Mac OS 9, try: http://www.redstonesoftware.com/support.html#vnc
- To view the presentation:
- Start up the VNC client software on your local computer.
- Make a VNC connection by logging on to:
- Server: slides47.lbl.gov
- Password: hif
- Port: 5900 (the default; probably not needed)
- Display: 0 (also usually defaulted).
- Please try connecting well before the start of the meeting so that any glitches can be fixed.
- In some viewers, you may wish to select "Shrink to Fit Window."
- Some viewers crash if you try switch in and out of the viewer. Known offenders (on at least some OS versions) are: Windows: RealVNC; Mac OS X: VNCthing

ACCESS INFORMATION - VIDEO
- ISDN-based video conferencing is planned for the meeting. Participating parties need to contact their local responsible personnel to reserve their local ISDN-based video conferencing units in advance for the Seminar.
