Routine EFIT Aanlysis for YOKA Database

Automatic EFIT analyses from VAX

  • Task: To ensure that the EFIT analyses automatically carried out overnight after an experimentally run day are accurate and send the results to the YOKA database
  • All command files and temporary work areas are on Vaxs' directory PHYS_DATA:[EQDSK_d3.YOKA].
  • Main analysis task specified in command file YOKAEFITD.COM
    • Need good shot list (GSL) prepared after each experimental run day by session leader
    • Drive YOKAEFITD.COM in two sub-directories with different SNAP files for analysis
      • JT: For H-mode discharges
      • DEF: For Ohmic and L-mode discharges
      • Make command file to run EFITD65Y based on GSL and then run EFITD65Y, and make summary using SUMMARD
    • Submit/para="sep2394_fri.gsl"/after=15:00
  • Checking
    • Look at SUMOUT.DAT from SUMMARD
    • Check c2, convergent error
    • Compare magnetic and dia-magnetic stored energy
    • Check Thomson location betwwen EFIT and from Thomson electron temperature data by running X TSPLOT for which SNAP file result, JT or DEF to send to YOKA dtabase
    • Verify that all timeslices are properly analyzed. If a particular one has problem, figure out the source of problem, correct it, and rerun it either manually or resubmit a batch job.
  • Pick best results from runs using JT and DEF SNAP files and send to YOKA databse using command file SUBMITMOVE.COM in each subdirectory JT and DEF
    • Manually edit the GSL for the selected timeslices for this SNAP file
    • Command file run the code EFIT:WYOKA which combines the data in S1032 format and send it together with A,G EQDSK files to the official database area for EFITD65 in EFITD65_DIR
    • Submit/para="sep2394_fri" submitmove.com

Process EFIT YOKA analyses from HP-UX using run_efit window - a faster and more convenient way.

  1. Select Input mode, provide snap extension, either jt or def; select 33x65 double precision from Preferences/EFIT version; Submit - EFIT will be run at batch mode.
  2. When the EFIT is done, SUMMARD has been run automatically, check sumout.dat.
  3. If adjustment is needed for individual slices, select File mode, provide input K file created in step 1. Submit.
  4. K file is editable from the Edit button. Repeat step 3 and 4 until satisfied. If SUMMARD is needed again, run from PostProcessor.
  5. When EFIT is done for all slices, go back to Input mode and make sure the correct GSL file is provided. Use PostProcessor/X YOKA to send EFIT and yoka files to the YOKA database on VAX.
