A New Tool for Viewing Output from EFIT
A new software tool to visualize and tabulate EFIT output A_EQDSK files, as well as E0 files from SUMMARD, has been made available on HYDRA and most other local HPs. This tool is named eqview.
The primary function of eqview is to collect A or E0 files of a shot in a given directory and present the data in the form of a list of variable names and values, and allow users to plot any of them. A description of each variable is provided. Variables may be plotted as functions of time or any other variable. Values of selected variables may be dumped to an ASCII file in X-Y format for further manipulation.
eqview is written in IDL but requires no knowledge of IDL to use. You only need to log in to a local HP, have X Window (for example, an NCD terminal or a Mac running Exodus, etc) available and your DISPLAY environment variable pointing to your current display device. To start a session, type
eqview
if the directory /link/efit is in your path, or
/link/efit/eqview
if the directory /link/efit is not in your path. The implementation is preliminary and under the stage of testing. Any comments, suggestions and bug reports are welcome. Please forward them to Qian Peng at extension 2453, or email peng@gav.gat.com.
