ELECTRON_METHOD

Definition

The model for electron dynamics.

Choices

  • ELECTRON_METHOD=1: GK ions, adiabatic electrons.
  • ELECTRON_METHOD=2: GK ions, drift-kinetic electrons.
  • ELECTRON_METHOD=3: GK electrons, adiabatic ions (for ETG).
  • ELECTRON_METHOD=4: All species GK.

Comments

  • When ELECTRON_METHOD=2, a semi-implicit time advance for electrons is used.
  • When ELECTRON_METHOD=4, all species are treated internally as gyrokinetic "ions", even electrons; however, the way in which electron quantities are specified is determined by the parameter ELECTRON_OVERLAY_METHOD.
