Resistive wall mode calculations using GATO
Plasma deformation due to the Resistive Wall Mode in DIII-D discharge #92544. The figure shows the toroidal plasma boundary and a cutaway of the perturbed plasma cross section inside a segment of the conducting vacuum vessel. The deformation (exaggerated 10x for clarity) is calculated from the GATO ideal MHD stability code assuming the perturbed flux (dashed lines in cutaway) penetrates the conducting vacuum vessel wall. The color coding around the plasma surface represents the magnitude of the perturbed normal field from maximum negative (red) to maximum positive (yellow).
