BETAE_UNIT

Definition

Electron beta at the center of the radial simulation domain, where the magnetic pressure is defined with respect to B_{\rm unit}\,\!:

 \beta_e = \frac{8 \pi n_e T_e}{B_{\rm unit}^2} .

Comments

  • This is meaningful for runs with non-experimental profiles (RADIAL_PROFILE_METHOD=1,5).
  • It is ignored when RADIAL_PROFILE_METHOD=3.
  • Simulations tend to become very expensive as this parameter moves beyond roughly 1/4th of the MHD critical beta.
