Technology Advancements

ITER will significantly advance fusion technologies that will eventually be needed in fusion energy systems. ITER will be the first thermonuclear burning plasma device so will provide experience in system integration and operation. The nominal design fusion power is 500 MW for 400 seconds, but operation to 700 MW or pulse lengths extending from 40 minutes to steady state can be accomodated
