Plasma Heating Techniques

The 73 MW start-up set of heating and current drive systems consists of 33 MW of neutral beam (1 MeV), 20 MW of ion cyclotron (~50 mMHz), and 20 MW of electron cyclotron (170 GHz) heating. Possible options to upgrade the power to 130 MW include doubling the power of both rf systems to 40 MW each, increasing the neutral beam power to 50 MW, and adding 40 MW of lower hybrid (~5 GHz) power.
