Magnetofluid Modeling Workshop
19-20 August 2002

This second announcement includes hotel information for the workshop on magnetofluid modeling, to be held at General Atomics, San Diego, California, 19-20 August 2002.

This workshop succeeds the Madison "Fluid closures" workshop. It will cover a broad range of topics related to magnetofluid modeling, including

Facilities have been reserved between August 21-23 for groups wishing to hold satellite meetings after the workshop. Please contact Sherry Lopez (lopezfusion.gat.com) or Ming Chu (chumfusion.gat.com) for further information.

Since the workshop is scheduled during the peak vacation season, participants are encouraged to make their reservations without delay.

FOR PEOPLE STAYING LESS THAN 3 DAYS:

The Residence Inn has a block of rooms at Government rate ($99) for the Magnetofluid Modeling Workshop. If anyone would like to book a room they can contact Phong Han:

email: Phong.Hanmarriott.com
phone: 858.587.1770 x460
They should mention the General Atomics MHD Workshop in order to get the lower rate.

Embassy Suites $99
This is across the street from UTC on La Jolla Village drive. Standard per diem rate. There is a shuttle to the SAIC campus nearby. Transportation to GA is more complicated however.

FOR PEOPLE STAYING LONGER THAN 3 DAYS:

US Suites (two locations, both near the UTC shopping center):
$98 for 1-bedroom suite (8 are on reserve)
$129 for 2-bedroom suite (7 are on reserve)
These are very nice apartment-like suites with kitchen, laundry, pool, etc. that are a bargain for the UTC area. If you can share with someone, the 2-bdrm is a particulary good deal. The only caveat is that you should expect to drive or carpool.
See http://www.us-suites.com/sandiego.htm.

To make reservations, call 1.800.877.8483 and press #2 (to get San Diego); ask for the NIMROD rate.
