Magnetofluid Modeling Workshop
19-20 August 2002

Contributions are solicited for a workshop on magnetofluid modeling, to be held at General Atomics, San Diego, California, 19-20 August 2002.

This workshop is a successor to the "Fluid closures" workshop held at Madison last July. It will cover a broad range of topics related to magnetofluid modeling, including

• Magnetic reconnection in space, astrophysical, and fusion plasmas
• Research on fluid closures
• New algorithms and numerical techniques
• High beta MHD
• Effects of flows
• Hybrid modeling

Facilities have been reserved between 21-23 August 2002 for groups wishing to hold satellite meetings after the workshop. Please contact Ming Chu (chumfusion.gat.com) for further information.

It is hoped that the workshop will contribute to the dialogue between the various communities involved in magnetofluid modeling, as well as between numerical and analytical theorists interested in fluid closures and the algorithms for simulating such closures.
